What we collect
A birth date, and optionally a birth time and a gender you select — that's the input the chart calculation needs. If you ask a follow-up question, its text is sent along with your chart to generate a reply. You can calculate a chart and see a basic compatibility score (with its one-line headline) without an account, an email address or a name. The written interpretation, the coach chat and PAL:JA's products (such as Korean Name or Roast) need you to sign in.
How it's used
Your birth information and any question you type are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the interpretation text you see. For a chart calculation or compatibility result made without signing in, we do not maintain a database of it — each one is computed and generated fresh from the parameters in the request. Standard hosting/server logs (IP address, timestamps) may be retained briefly for abuse prevention (rate limiting) and debugging, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Payments
Go Deeper and Premium purchases are both processed entirely by Gumroad, acting as merchant of record. We never receive or store your card number or other payment credentials — Gumroad retains what it needs to process the charge and handle tax compliance, governed by Gumroad's own privacy policy. To connect a completed Go Deeper payment to your report, we briefly store the birth date/time/gender you provided alongside a random one-time token and a paid/pending status, in our own database (hosted on Supabase) — that record is only ever read by our server, stops being accepted as valid after one hour, and exists solely to bridge the moment between payment and your report loading. A Premium payment is matched to your signed-in account by the email you used at checkout; we store the date your access runs until and Gumroad's own subscription id (so a renewal charge can be matched back to the same account) so your Premium access stays in sync with your billing status.
Third parties
We use Anthropic (Claude API) to generate reading text, Gumroad to process payments, and Supabase to store your account (if you have one) and briefly bridge a completed Go Deeper payment to its report (see "Payments" above). We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
Your choices
If you use PAL:JA without signing in, your chart is calculated and kept in your browser — we don't save it to our database. The one exception is joining a 'Read us together' room from an invite link: the chart you enter there and the room's messages are saved so both people can see the room. If you sign in, your charts and conversations are saved to your account. You can delete a single chart, or your whole account (saved charts, conversations, referral code/credits and premium status), any time from your account page — an active Premium subscription needs to be cancelled in Gumroad first, since deleting the account here doesn't reach Gumroad's own billing.
